Jure Sterk back to Tauranga, New Zeland

We are informing you that our worldwide Slovenian sailor Jure Sterk is safely retourned back to Tauranga, New Zeland at 10 a.m. at local time.

After his last attempt on 26-th October, 2007 he had to retourned because of some troubles with desalinizator, which produces drinking water directly from sea-water.

We wish him quick retourn back to his journey and his records.

Jure Sterk has postponed the start of his journey '' Sailing round the world without landing''.

After he left the port of Izola on the 5th of September 2004, Jure Sterk was doing great. Unfortunately his journey went well only to Trapani in Sicily, where he confronted with stationary depression over the South Tirrenian Sea. After few days he managed to get to Cagliari in Sardinia in spite of the storm (up to 41 knots). He again had to wait for the stable wind over the West Mediterranean Sea. He took off and reached the Almerimar marine (about 130 miles from Gibraltar) after five days. He then continued his trip, but had some problems with the motor so he landed in Benalmadena and waited there until he got the spare parts. When he finally reached Gibraltar, where his start of ''Round the world sailing without landing'' should begin, he experienced an unpleasant surprise, because the Shepard's marine (the meeting point of sailors from the whole world) is being under construction. A lot of things that Jure was planning to buy in the nautical store in the marine are out of sale. This is not a suitable place to start his journey anymore. Jure had to sail on. In a few days he landed on a Canarian island Lanzarote (in Arrecif) where again he had a lot of work with removing damages on the equipment. Later when he finally reached Las Palmas it was already too late to start the journey.
Why?
Because if he takes off now, he would come across icebergs and storms in front of Cape of Good Hope (South point of Africa), which would push him to the shore and force him to land. Therefore the ''Sailing round the world without landing'' would be over. There is no radar system on the sail boat Lunatic, which is necessary for sailing in the icy area and even if he could succeed pulling through the ice and reach the Indian ocean, he would be at the Cape Horn (south point of South America) in winter, which is totally inappropriate time for sailing around the Cape Horn.

Our sailor is now in Las Palmas. ''The door'' for the beginning of the journey will be open again in July 2005.

New GPS-SOS Control and Customer Center are Opened

In cooperation with PORSCHE Slovenia first education of GPS-SOS authorised customers centres took place!!!

On 8. and 9. September 2004 a first educational seminar for authorised GPS-SOS customers centres in Ljubljana took place with PORSCHE SLOVENIA.

Worldwide Slovenian sailor Jure Šterk began on the 5th, September 04 at 13:49 the solo journey around the world. He will attempt to achieve three Guinness World Records which will be recorded and proofed by Tracking and Security System GPS-SOS.
